![]() Given how much private information we carry on our devices, don’t casually leave the backdoor open to anyone with a shiny app and a free install. Even if the downside is simply unwanted ads, the fact is that malicious apps can often be hiding more dangers than that. Don’t download trivial utility apps because they seem nifty and free-they’re free for a reason. ![]() Ultimately, the usual advice applies here. two different iPads, two different iPhones, and a Samsung Android tablet. And, arguably, the most worrying finding is that all 15 apps appeared this year-that means there are still gaping holes in Play Store security and there are adware factories churning out such apps and pushing them into the public domain. Once installed, the apps use innocuous names to ensure they don’t trigger suspicions. The mindset to download an app of unknown provenance for such a delicate purpose we won’t get into-the warnings here basically go without saying. “Most ironically,” Sophos reports, one of the malicious apps is designed “to scrub your phone of private data.” You couldn’t make this up. As so often with adware apps, most are designed around trivial utilities-QR readers and image editors, for example. ![]()

Google Books Downloader has been downloaded 112,658 times so far. In conclusionĪll in all, Google Book Downloader is simple enough to address all audiences, but still lacks speed in the book search process (it takes more than a few minutes at times). Google Books Downloader is available for multiple platforms (Windows/macOS/Android). The Options section of the application allows users to perform several customizations, such as configuring the Autosave function, the book quality and preferences for the P2P/Proxy channels. If the operation takes longer than expected, you can break the search and start a new one. After you enter one of these, select a server (the one that is nearest to your area) and press ‘Search’. In order to add a new book, users ought to own the book code/link or the ISBN number. A few menus offer access to some of its most important features, such as adding a new book, Pause/Resume download or grouping the books by their download status. The program’s interface is extremely simple, no visual incentives or eye-candy elements involved. The installation process is quite fast and doesn’t pose major problems. It’s accessible, easy-to-use and makes a great choice for teachers, students, or plain book lovers. Google Book Downloader is just the tool to fulfill this requirement. To avoid all that, you can save the book locally using Google’s PDF download feature or you can use a dedicated tool that can search and grab Google Books in PDF format. Google’s built-in reader can be a little uncomfortable to use, due to several distracting elements, such as navigation menus and ads. Specialty rolls - known as maki sushi - grace most tables, and part of the reason may be the innovative presentation of the restaurant's menu. Just glance at what's presented to the happy diners who fill the restaurant at lunch - mostly workers from nearby office buildings - or at dinner and you'll know that rolls are also a hallmark of Murasaki. But you don't have to make such a commitment to enjoy the pleasures of Murasaki. Diners may choose from sushi omakase, sashimi omakase, or with a little planning, the Murasaki omakase, which rings up at $50 to $70 a person and may include baked dishes and other traditional treats not listed on the menu. Regulars at Murasaki simply order the omakase, which means the chef prepares a selection of dishes of his choice using the freshest fish. Pale-colored wood predominates: in the tables, the chairs, the sushi bar and the lattice screening that adorns glass windows overlooking the patio. Purple is reflected in the carpeting, the upholstered chair seats, the chopstick wrapper and the carryout menus. The restaurant takes it name from the Japanese word for purple, and the decor reflects that, though not in a garish way. And the orders from the embassy keep rolling in. He brought in chefs from the upscale Hisago, which burned brightly in the 1990s at Washington Harbour. It was bought by a Korean sushi chef who had previously worked at Bonsai in Shirlington. Those deliveries have been ongoing since the restaurant opened six years ago. Everything was just amazing and the salmon was the best I've ever had. ![]() I made the effort to go back there a several months ago and took a chance and ordered their chef's special sashimi dinner, which costs about $10-$15 more than the sushi dinner. Since I was still at a loss, I threw away the paper she gave me. I asked about it once and when the waitress went to go find out and told me, it turned out that she only told me the name of the brand and not the actual product. It's not the bad-tasting low end sho-chik-bai or gekkeikan stuff either (though they price it the same). The nameless (not really house brand b/c they don't make it so I feel weird calling it that) hot sake is the best I've had in any Japanese restaurant. My friend and I were such frequent guests, the waitresses knew what we wanted right as we sat down, which are two sushi dinners and a large hot sake. Their sushi is consistently fresh and tasty the dozen times I visited when I lived in the area a few years ago. Murasaki might not be the best Japanese restaurant in D.C., but after going there, I stopped looking. ![]() ![]() These meters aren’t nearly as common, but they’re important to be able to recognize in a piece of sheet music. Just like we talked about in simple time, each measure doesn’t have to have six eighth notes, but rather the equivalent beat value.Īn odd meter is a meter that contains both simple and compound beats. Each dotted quarter note can be divided into three eighth notes, and since there are two dotted quarter notes per measure, there are six eighth notes, hence the 6/8 time signature. This is where the division of the beat into three equal parts comes in. Now that we understand that 6/8 is felt in two, we can observe that there are two beats per measure, with the dotted quarter note getting the beat. You can even see this reflected in the sheet music. Though you could tap “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6” over and over again, you’ll naturally find yourself tapping “1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2.” This is because the beat emphasis is on the 1st and 4th eighth notes in each measure. However, 6/8 is felt in two, meaning that songs in 6/8 seem as though there are only two beats per measure instead of six.įeel it out yourself by listening to “We Are The Champions” by Queen and tapping out the beat. The time signature above tells us that there are six notes (or divisions) per measure, and an eighth note is equal to one division. While the top number in simple time signatures represents how many beats are in a measure, the top number in compound time signatures represents the number of divisions in a measure. While “divisions” and “beats” may seem like the same thing, we’re going to demonstrate why they are different. The bottom number means the same thing as it does in simple time signatures. The numbers in these time signatures function nearly the same as simple time signatures, but there is one key difference. The top number of compound time signatures is commonly 6, 9, or 12 (multiples of 3), and the most common time signatures you will see are 6/8, 9/8, and 12/8. Compound Time SignaturesĬompound time signatures differ from simple time signatures in that the beat is divided into three equal parts, rather than two. Notice in the second measure that each of those beats can be divided in two. We know that a 3/4 time signature means there are three beats in a measure, and one quarter note equals one beat. Let’s look at this example of a 3/4 time signature. For example, you could see any of the rhythms below, because they all consist of four quarter note beats in total.Īs we said before, a simple time signature indicates that the beat can be divided by two. It’s important to know this doesn’t mean there can only be four quarter notes in each measure, but rather that the total note value of each measure will add up to four quarter notes. Now that we can see the bottom “4” in this time signature represents a quarter note, we can conclude that a 4/4 time signature means there are a total of four beats per measure, and one quarter note equals one beat. You could continue to 32, 64, and so on, but hopefully, you’ll never encounter such a time signature!.These numbers coordinate with the following types of notes: But what kind of note gets the beat? The bottom number of a time signature can be 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and so on. Looking at the example above, we can see that the top number is “4,” telling us that there are four beats in one measure. ![]() The top number determines how many beats are in a measure, while the bottom number determines what type of note gets the beat. ![]() In order to truly understand simple time signatures, you must understand what the numbers represent. ![]() ![]() Time signatures where the beat can be divided into two equal parts are known as simple time signatures. Simple time signatures are the most common kind of time signature and they pop up regularly in popular music due to the clear, easy to determine beats. The most common simple time signatures you will see are 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4, although any time signature with a 2, 3, or 4 as the top number is classified as simple. We’re going to dive into each type and what their numbers mean, so the next time you’re checking out at a piece of sheet music, you’ll know exactly what you’re looking at! Simple Time Signatures There are three main types of time signatures: simple, compound, and complex. In sheet music, the time signature appears at the beginning of a piece as a symbol or stacked numerals immediately following the key signature (or immediately following the clef symbol if the key signature is empty). The time signature in music is represented by a set of numbers, one on top of the other, resembling a fraction. In sheet music, vertical black bars called bar lines divide the staff into measures. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is very useful if you want to preserve some shadow detail in a scene but don’t want to completely blow out the highlights. If you are shooting in a scene with heavy contrast, MLMP has an Average function which, when turned on at the top of the screen, allows you to meter for two separate areas and get an average, middle reading of the two areas. It even adds more obstacle avoidance sensors than the Mini 2. It’s powerful, has amazing cameras, sports a beautiful display, and the notch is dead. The CLS-CCD version (unlike the CLS version), includes an additional IR layer for cameras that have had the stock UC/IR cut filter removed during modification. I’ve found that it helps to get as close to what you’d like to meter for as possible, so as to avoid accidental metering of light you don’t need in your frame.įor example, if you’re metering for the highlights of a scene, try and fill your camera with the highlight area and then meter.
